Met friend Pete at Green Lake for some morning fishing. Air temp was 29 degrees at 7:00AM. Fished on the northeast shoreline, just north of the big "T" dock, off the rocks. Began fishing at about 7:30... water temp at shoreline was 54 degrees, so the water is definitely cooling off. About 8:00 Pete landed the first Rainbow, a 12"'er.... lightly hooked, so he released it. Pete had been catching multiple fish on several days this week, all in the 14" to 16" range, so no reason not to think that this was just the start of a terrific day...NOT! If I had a nickle for every time the first fish came easy and early and I then anticipated a great day which turned out not to be... I could buy a vanilla milkshake... at least!! Anyway, the lake was placid and flat until a stiff breeze came out of the north about 10:00. The sun was bright, and probably had something to do with putting the fish off the "bite". We both had subtle bites through the morning, but no hook-ups. I tried worms, and spin-casting spoons, with no results. Pete kept telling me that the I would catch a fish at noon. At 11:55 I reeled in a nice, bright 13" Rainbow (thanks NostraPetedomus!).Pete left the lake at 12:30, cold. I stayed 'til 1:00, when I had to leave for a family commitment.
The highlight of the day was meeting "Elijahlovesfishing" and watching him try for German Browns with his magic "pitchin' sticks", though we did not see him hook up with anything. There are still plenty of big 'Bows in the lake, and the Browns should be coming on strong in the weeks ahead.
Lots of great people walking the lake, had some very enjoyable visits through the morning. All in all, another great day fishing! PTL!

It was a ruff day at Green for me n Gort aswell. Had a few strikes on a spoon, even had 3-4inchers come right up to shore. We pretty much fished the entire north side, and finished up at the T dock, called it a day at noon.Skunked n cold. For the first time we seen part of a large crayfish in the water.I didnt know there were any in there.
