It is looking like my favorite time of the year to fish Lake WA. i.e. Fall/Winter. Flat water, very few boats, cool temps.
I went with partner, "Motoboat" launched from Magnusson park. Started late, about 11:30. Water temp 53 deg. cloudy, occaisonal sprinkle, but mostly dry until the end. I wanted to burn up the old gas in the boat, so we motored from Magnusson going South. 520 bridge is outta control with barges and construction going on. Didn't feel right... went down to I-90 bridge made one swipe both East and West. Marked lots of interesting fish on the finder. Interesting because usually I am clear on what I know to be bait balls, but I was seeing plenty of arches of what appeared to be larger fish, but strange that they were all in the lower 3rd of water colum. Like 85' -- 120'. Fished both in the 40-70' depth, and chased the targets down deep. Was fishing one rod with a watermelon mini-Apex, (thank you G-man) and another with mini hootchie in green splatter back. No hits at all.

Full throttle down to the South end of lake. dropped in right at the S. end of the Island. Wayne had a fish on immediatly. This time he was fishing a Needlefish?? on a long 4-5' leader behind small dodger. Cutthroat wasn't the biggest at about 16", but was pretty thick in the shoulders.
Trolled the general South end more still... no more action. Also covered the mouth of the Cedar, nothing. trolled up the South West side for ways, nothing. Saw only a couple other boats out there. Eventually darkness was coming, and the rain began to pour. Full throttle in the little 14' Lund back to Magnusson with big waves and wind, took 35 minutes. Slow day, but when at least my guest went home with a fish.
