Hit long lake in a snow storm to catch some smallies. Found crappie and the brown bass. Great trip out on an empty lake listening to the hunters calling in ducks and watching the eagles. great day.

With a smallie like that I am sure you had a great day. Have not been to Long for some time and wondering where the launch site(s) are located. Also, what depth are you finding the crappie? When I did fish there we caught them in the 30 to 35 ft level in the winter.

Nice Bass, Is that boat launch in the back round of the second picture a private or public boat launch because when I fish long lake I usually have to launch at the state park or nine mile falls. If its a private launch do they charge a launch fee?

@Slabman, the crappie were a mistake we were looking for bass. We did catch them in 40' of water.
@golsen24 The launch site is private it's called willow bay resort. You can launch there for $15.00. My oldest boy and I are having a great time even though it is getting colder. Don't know how much longer I will be fishing this year. My boy wants to be out on News Year day for the first fish of the year, even if it's a squaw. LOL

Great job! Nice smallie. I was out on Saturday but missed both bites. How easily could you detect your bites?

Nice smallie. We hit Long on Friday and although the fishing was slow we still caught a mess of crappie but still no smallies. Our crappie bites were extremely light how about yours?

Thank you everyone for the comments.. It was cold,, the air temp was 26-28 water was still 44.
we were dragging football heads in 40-50'. and the only way to detect the bites was when you lost bottom contact, that usually meant it was a fish.
