Directions I had were dated. Headed North 101 on the left is Verle's Sport Center a large yard full of boats. To get back to this landmark requires a U-turn back under the freeway from the first Shelton exit.
The public boat launch was really nice and easy to use. Putting our rowboat in the water the only other fisherman there was pulling up to leave. He claimed to have caught one. He didn't say what kind. He suggested we head out toward the west far side. Sort of a swamp on that side. Could make out some splashing birds feeding on something over that way.
Bright sunny day. About two on the clock. Whole lake to ourselves putting along electric got a spinning lure in the water trying to cruise just a little deeper than the thick weeds. Whoa got something. Pulled up a weed like a shrubbery. Got over to far side drifted along. Trying different terminal ends. Only action was pulling various weeds. Floated over into a seam with lots of bird feathers sort of a line of flotsam about even with the last westside house.
Real peaceful quiet not really expecting much trout feeding activity with it so cold. Mostly relaxing occasionally jigging a little slow retrieves tying on different lures and bait. Not a bite.
Along comes a cabin cruiser to the launch. This is a boat big enough
to live aboard. Surprizing they get right into this small lake and start maybe a 150 horse outboard. Few minutes later here come another one. This one too starts a huge motor. They idle up to the other one a couple minutes then take off in a deafening roar to the east. Turn it around and roar back get on their trailer and leave. Then the first one does the same ?
Close to napping before this. Had to get up to turn our rowboat to their wake to keep from being swamped. Seemed like a nice lake to add to our return list. Not too overly developed shoreline. Easy access from a major highway. Must be very shallow there is a clump of pilings right in the middle. Apparently fairly rich in nutrients given the lush plant growth.Plenty of different types of birds working this lake. Just have to catch times when high performance motor sports are giving it a rest.
Worm drowning,
Jim Ramey

The big boats you comment about are the salesmen from Verle's demonstrating boats for sale from there. It's a quick run, launch and retrieve to show what a boat can do. Just thought I'd let you know......
