Got out in the cold and rain today looking for some cutty action, and found a hen and a buck. I'd like to say that I caught a fish exactly at 12:12. I wasn't watching the clock but it was fairly close.

We put some effort in around Faben Point, north Mercer Island. Both my buddy and I hooked Stickleback while jigging and nothing else working at depths of 40 to 80 feet. It seems the bigger fish would be in feeding on these Stickleback schools, but it didn't seem to be happening. When found the fish up in the shallow waters, 25 to 30 feet with little bait fish on the meter. Fire-tiger Kwikfish was the lure of the day today under a gray and drizzly sky. It's getting colder out there so dress warm and stay safe.

I knew there were still some cutts haning around in the lake. Nice job toughing out the weather and adjusting tatics to find the fish.

Many thanks G-Man! I've been watching your reports for a while now and learned a lot from you. As you know, this lake is a complex and challenging fishery, especially as we move deeper into winter. I had some time to go at it again today and got one about 16" also in 25' of water. I released that one. It took a rainbow apex, but I couldn't buy another bite all day even though I switched through 4 different lures. I even had one fin the surface right in front of my bow then raise it's head out of the water and look at me before it took off. It seems they are concentrated near the drop-offs, steeper the better, and in very shallow water. If they won't bite then there's not much to do about it. Still fun to get out there and track them.
