My favorite lake in this state. What makes it great is that not to many people know about it. Therefore i only post the pics of the fish (released) on the secret lake page. Keep this place great...dont tell everyone about it....please protect this fantastic fishery!!!!

Out there on Friday, and I can tell you one thing, there are so many little bows and browns that any real big fish is going to be full from eating all of the little ones. LOL

Next summer could be a real good time when all of the little ones grow up, but for now, they are a real pest!

Allan, please confirm that you had 7 people in your party. The last thing we need is people thinking that we have people steeling fish. Thanks, and great report.

PS, on the 28th, the water surface temperature ran from 40.4 to 42 degrees during the day and depending on the location. Water clarity was green with 8' visibility. We found fish from the surface to at least 35' deep.

I'm not aware that Rock Lake is under any special regulations. I read that 20 total fish were kept. The word "...ourselves" indicates plural anglers. No bait was being used, so they didn't need to keep (or count) every fish caught. Statewide limit on Trout is 5 per person. That would only require 4 anglers. What am I missing? Great report, Allan. With over 400 hundred views for the post and I notice this lake gets about three times as many anglers as it used too. :0(

4 of us in the lund. my self and 3 nephews, all fish caught of spinners and cranks none caught on spoons, no live bait used. if you fish Rock be careful of the ramp... New years resolution FISH MORE>>>

Thanks for the update Allan, you are correct, you said 15 and 5, not 30 and 5.

BigWerm, yes, Rock does get more attention then it use to. It is still a dangerous lake, with one person killed last year and two that almost died.

Allan is dead on about the ramp, if you call a trail into the water a ramp - LOL. I have seen a lot of trailer pieces in the water at the ramp, and this time of year it is slick, so take precautions. I never launch my boat without waders, and yes, over the years I have damaged my trailer a couple of times. There is no actual ramp, no rock or dirt work has been done; it is just a slow sloping edge of a cliff that drops off if you go too far.

Rock is a pretty good lake because it is fertile. There are a lot of food for the fish to grow on so they grow fast and fat. Rock is off colored most of the year due to plankton, sometimes run off, IT SEEMS ALWAYS WIND.

Fish at your own risk, be safe, but enjoy as well.
