Hit upper Twin after a good day at Silver on Saturday. On the water by 9:00 and fished till noon. Ice was 3.5 to 4 inches. Be careful as we did run into some ice 2.5 inches thick which cracked under our feet. There was a thin layer of snow about 2 inches on the ice and when we ran into deaper snow the ice got thin quick. Glow jig with worm or perch eye worked best. Fishing was steady until a school came through which made it so crazy our hands got cold. We fished out from the launch in 15.6 FOW and did fine. Our best luck was right out in the middle where we found the school. Bite only last 15 minutes then stopped. I lost my jig on a possible pike strike as he took my Swedish pimple flasher. I use just the flasher as my weight and the glow jig about 8 inches down. Took home another 10 nothing over 8 inches. I did manage 1 large crappie about 11 inches. Great fishing day with my good friend Rob. A good group out on the ice was nice to see. For others, I did talk to a fisherman Saturday who had been out on Eloika and the ice was a good 5-6 inches thick. Fish fry was great with potato pancakes. Go Pack Go!
