What an outstanding day of fishing on Lake Chelan! The Ace Hi-Fly and Joe's bait Rig worked great! The Trench produced for us and mack Bar. Found most fish in the Trench in 190 to 240ft. Thanks so much to my Crew today. Tight Lines to All and Be Safe!

A few years ago, I caught some decent lake trout up near Hawk Creek on Roosevelt, fishing one of those "Too deep to be real" fish icons on the depth finder. Haven't targeted or found any since. Do you know if there are any numbers of them in that lake? Nice catch, by the way. Always enjoy your photos.

To be honest, I have never heard of laketrout in Lake Roosevelt. I checked WDFW records and they have never been stocked in there. Possibly the fish that you caught were Dolly Varden because there were a few in Roosevelt? After I read your comment I was really stoked! I was ready to load the boat and head to Roosevelt:)

Yeah, I know the feeling. I had never heard of lake trout in Roosevelt, but after catching those in 190' of water, on heavy Crocodile spoons like we used on Great Slave Lake, I was ready to hit every "too deep" blip on the sonar. Haven't seen or heard of them since. Wonder if we wiped them out after and illicit plant? They were all the same size, about 4+ lbs, and right after the mouth of the creek, in the first deep water downstream, on the upstream edge of the hole. Caught a roughly 3' sturgeon once there also, about 30 years ago.
Oh, I do know the difference, but it was a great suggestion. Lots of folks don't. My grandad sure didn't. He thought we were over the limit once on Chelan, and all we had were lakers. Course he once thought a pikeminnow (sq***fish back then {don't want to offend the easily offended}) was a walleye, too, so.... I wouldn't rush up there for that reason, but as an excuse, anything is good to hit Roosevelt or Chelan!!

No mention on reports by Big Brother either, but you or Roosevelt addicts like myself might find this interesting: https://pisces.bpa.gov/release/documents/documentviewer.aspx?doc=00014804-6
