After an hour and a half of nodda at Fiorito this morning.My buddy Gary and I decided to keep on driving the rest of the way to Potholes and fish off Medicare beach.Powerbait in a wide asst of colors,and marshmallows with eggs were the bait of choice.Me having a 2 rod endorsement fished PB on one and marshmallows and Pautzkes on the other.Gary fished Powerbait as well.Right off the bat Gary misses on within the 1st 20 minutes.About 20 minutes later I pop about a 13 incher on the egg setup.We had several missed strikes.I snag up.Tighten my drag and bust loose.Re rig and put out.Heres where the story happens with the big one that got away.I forgot to reset my drag before I throw back out.Big fish hits,rod jacks over,line goes snap.Oh well it happens.Re rig throw back out.Catch 4 lb 4 oz rainbow on cerise powerbait an hour or so later.Still a good day to get out.Kind of nice leaving boat at home this time.Still a bit of ice on lake only boat launch open is state park launch.
