There are a few "rules" when it comes to fishing cutts on Lake Washington and waiting for the second full day of a high pressure system is one of them. Well late yesterday a high pressure front moved into the area and having the day off, I decided to go against conventional wisdom and head out to the lake to put the theory to the test. I fished with Slimy Slab after the fog had lifted from the lake and found clear skies with but a slight breeze out of the NW. Unfortunately it was proven once again that whatever bite there had been, was now gone for us and we went the entire day without even a strike. We each went through a few different lures, covered quite a bit of water on the southern end of the lake and came across plenty of bait. If the weather pattern holds, Saturday and Sunday should yield some better results. Attached are a few of the teases we encountered while on the water today.

I find the same true G-Man, but sometimes trips are scheduled well in advance of weather so we take what we get. Look forward to a more productive outing report from you today or tomorrow. ;-)

I got out there about 1245 on Friday by I-90, the weather was too nice to pass up. A large while boat approached me immediately with 3 anglers, they had been fishing south of Mercer all morning with nothing to show for the effort. I told them my plan was to work the shallow ledges off Mercer up to the bridge, and invited them to join me. They declined, heading north in a hurry. I dropped the gear down and before they were out of sight I hooked into the biggest cutty I've gotten in weeks. I released it quickly after a very long fight and went looking for more but only had a couple of take-downs. It was still great to be out there on a sunny day. Sunday is setting up to be a good day.
