Another beautiful day on American Lake! The sun came out for a while and the wind was almost not there most the day.
Sometimes I don't feel like posting but don't think its fair to only post the "good" days so here is another report
Started out catching a small (8 inch) trout, then caught a 13 incher that had a little fight in him. The last fish of the day I am pretty sure was a kokanee. Now the reason I say this is because I have caught probably around 50 trout from december to March now (maybe more) and most of them have almost been like reeling in a log. This last fish was amazing! I look over and see my rod tip bend almost all the way to the water (I am using one of my downrigger poles) so I grab it real quick and set the hook like it was a trout (way to hard for kokanee) within about a second of me setting the hook this thing rocketed out of the water a tleast a good foot so I got a pretty decent look at him. He was doing the classic koke roll to get off the hook and sure enough he did just that. The worst part was is I really wanted my son to real him in so I handed him the pole as soon as I set the hook. Weather it was a koke or not it was great seeing the fish jump and see how he hit so much harder then all the other fish. I know "technically" I did not catch three fish because he did not make it all the way to the net but......
Anyways it was a couple good hours on good ol American like always. I hope to have some great koke reports from the boat soon but boats seem to still be coming back with just trout and my knee is still healing so I figure I will probably give it another week before I give it a shot in the boat again. I am going to Riffe on Monday so you will probably see a report from that
Good luck to all in their fishing adventures!

I was using my normal setup for both trout but something kinda interesting for the last fish (possible koke) I added a shrimp to my hook, so I had two powereggs and a shrimp with shrimp scent. (in case you were wondering)

Mike, You have done everything short of SCUBA to get that first koke. I know there are two koke in there, one with each of our names on it. It is just a matter of time as to who gets their's first. As Toni said "Keep it up, you will get one." The forecast looks good for a week after this Saturday. See you out there.

I actually have only tried one day for the kokes this year. I know they are there and they will bite when they are good and ready. It has to be better than last year. I know there is more than 1 for me out there i am hoping for atleast 100 or more. I hope there is a couple out there for you to Lou! :)

Say, how do you pronounce Riffe? Is it Rye-F or Wriff? I had a old timer correct me by saying Rye-F, when I called the lake Wriff.

Then again. I was talking to another, different old timer. In the fishing section of Fred Meyer. During our conversation he mentions the word Thermocline. But pronounced the word like this: Therm-awk-line. I said: "Oh, you mean thermo-cline". And he said: "NO, the therm-awk-line". Just curious is all.
