First day out to Cavanaugh. Hit the lake around 9:00am. Had one on early but lost him. Then about an hour later picked up another and got him almost to the boat and lost him too. Look to be a Kokanee. Then about hour later picked up a nice 12 inch Rainbow. Nice to get the first fish of the year in the boat. Now just need some warm weather.

Was trolling between 1.0-2.0 all morning. Water temp 39 - 41 degrees. Depth at 25 feet. Tried using just about everything in the tackle box. Picked up the one rainbow on a black and white needlefish.

Are you sure that the rainbow was not a cutthroat? The lake is LOADED with cutthroat, although they are mostly very skinny with large heads. Cutthroat need not be showing a slash under the throat in order to be cutthroat, sometimes it's more or less present than other times.
Cav. is such a great Kokanee lake when the water gets a little warmer. thx. for the report.
