1st trip out on the water. Mainly to make sure boat runs like it should after sitting for so long.

Major construction going on at the launch for something.

Got on the water at about 10:30PM.

Anyways, ran around the lower and mid section of the lake watching sonar to see if it's worth getting my rod out. I spotted only 1 fish in the 1 and a half hour I was driving around. I ran deep and "shallow" ~20' and didn't see anything. I didn't see any surface activity. All my normal spots that I fish last summer/fall had nothing on sonar.

I saw several boats out on the water. 1 guy in orange was trolling in the launch cove. A couple around the weather buoy.

I started motoring up to the northern end of the lake. As I get close to the bend/point, a fellow boat starts slowing down and it looks like he's coming my way. I also marked a couple of small targets on sonar. I start getting my rod ready. Then the boater does pull up. Learned his name is Hal. Nice guy. Told me he got 2 right off the bat early in the morning, then nothing for hours. Had several clear the clip, but didn't stick. I told him they are probably peamouths because I remember seeing tons of them up in the northern area. Anyways he tells me he saw several on sonar but they were biting.

Anyways, I start trolling with a needlefish first. About 30 mins into it, I only marked 1 fish.

I got a new combo for Christmas, so I start rigging it up. I tie on a wedding ring. Switch combos and 30 mins later, I get a quick strike. It was gone before I could even move. 45 mins later, I mark a couple of fish. I wait and BAM! Fish on. This new rod is "Light" power. The strike looked vicious, lol.

Anyways, It's jumping all over the place. I see can it's a trout. I get it to boat side and it's about 14-15". I go to net and it jumps 1 more time and fish is gone. :(

I turn and make several more passes.

In short, I had 6 strikes. 3 fish on. 2 netted. All the ones I saw were about the same size. 14-15".

I know for sure, 1 was a cutt . I forgot to check the other before I dump it back in. Most likely a cutt too.

Water temp ranges from 49-51 for me.

It was also cold out on the water. And wind started to pick up by 1PM or so headed in.

Sounds like you had a productive day. Looks like they finished putting in the rest of the docks.

I was out there today also. We started at the bend and my buddy got one before my rod was in the water. Another 4 hours later got another. I was doing the same thing of not marking anything in the normal spots. We were in the blue sled running around the buoy. What worked for us today was an orange apex.
