I feel somewhat conflicted about writing this report. By way of explanation: Pete and I are good friends. We met on the pier at Lake Ballinger about a year and a half ago and have been fishing buddies ever since. I write my reports on the behalf of both of us... it's an "us" report. My fishing on Saturday was a "1", while Pete's was a "5+", so I feel justified in giving it a "4"!!
We met at Green Lake at a bit after 6:00 AM and were fishing by 6:30. Temp upon arrival was 48 degrees, water temp at 10' was 56 degrees. Weather was blustery and showery all day, with some veritable downpours along the way. We fished the pier at 65th St, on the eastside of the lake... Pete took the southernmost end of the pier, I was stationed at the northern-most end. Started out fishing two colors of Power Eggs (green and red) on two poles. About 7:00, Pete had a good hit and reeled in a nice 12" Rainbow... hooked in the lip, so C&R (red PE). Nothing for several hours, then about 9:30, Pete reeled in another 12" Rainbow, this one deeply hooked, so was kept (chartreuse PE). In the meantime, I had had a couple of subtle bites... that's all!! At about 10:00 Pete's pole nearly left the pier... an epic fight ensued, with the fish clearing the surface of the lake four or five times... a beautiful nearly 16" triploid was finally, skillfully netted by your's truly! (chartreuse PE). Again, 0 fish for me/3 fish for Pete! I watched in envy as Pete recast and set his pole on the holder, turned to go back to my barren fishing poles, when I heard Pete let out a howl... I turned to watch the same scenario I had seen five minutes before it was "deja vu" all over again! Again, thanks to my incredible netting skills (honed mostly by netting fish caught by Pete!), another nearly 16" triploid lay on the dock. 0 fish for me/4 fish for Pete! The next several hours produced nothing but excessive amounts of rain... then, about 1:00 Pete had another hard hit and reeled in another Rainbow of about 12", which fell off the hook as it was lifted onto the dock, so back it went, to fight another day. 0 fish for me, 5 fish for Pete (including two trips)! Pete left for home shortly after his last triumph, I stayed on until 4:00, when, seeing another dark cloud mass approaching from the south, decided to call it a day before I drowned.
I saw perhaps a dozen other anglers during the day, on the shoreline or on the pier with us. Did not see another fish caught besides Pete's. The man is a born "fisherman extraordinaire". Honestly, watching my friend catch fish is a great joy to me... and I'm hardly not jealous at all!!!... well, maybe just a little! PTL!

The last pic is one of the triploids which bears a deep wound on it's side, no doubt caused by the beak of a Cormorant. The wound was deep enough to have penetrated the body cavity of the fish, thereby exposing it's entrails, and would have most certainly been fatal to the fish in time. These vicious predators not only feast on smaller trout, but obviously can cause great harm to fish they could never eat.
