Cindy had the day off today, and as I did too we decided to give the Kokanee a try. We had some early AM appointments to complete before heading to the fishing hole. After finishing with the commitments we went to Wally world to pick up some more 3/0 Seps dodgers. While we were there, Cindy saw some tiny orange marshmallows made by Berkley and decided we needed to get some. OK, whatever. Anyway, we get on the water around noon and head up to Lakeside where I had marked fish yesterday.
As we near the area where I had picked up fish there were marks showing on the depth finder. Drop the bow mount and start the kicker motor. We wish! The Kicker has been flooding lately and chose now to flood out again. So the electric bow mount is put into service. While I was doing some magic on the kicker, Cindy was rigging up a dodger with an orange squidie and smile blade rigged with two hooks covered with shoepeg and the orange marshmallows, and getting her setup in the water. She dropped it down to 30 feet in 50 feet of water and before I could get a line in the water she has one jerking her rod. This one she loses as she is bringing it in but things are looking good. I finally get the kicker kicking and am in the water too. After Cindy gets several more hits and a few in the boat with me at Zero, I decide to give the Orange marshmallows a try. I start to get in on the action as soon as I do so. Go figure. We chased Kokanee from 20 feet depth down to the bottom in 60 feet of water. Seemed the fish were hanging in 45-60 feet of water today. We would mark a school and before we could get around to the spot again, the school would have been moved, so it was a challenge to stay on the fish. We finished our day around 6:00 with a two person limit, so it was worth all the effort. Cindy was one happy girl, I was pretty happy too. Mmmmmm, I think the Smoker will get a workout now. Sharp hooks and hungry fish
