Went to Rotary Lake this morning in search of some panfish (mainly crappie), I used a 7 ft light noodle/jig rod with a spinning reel with 2 lb tess mono line and about a 2 ft 2 lb tess flouro leader, using a slip bobber and a mini tube jig 1/32 and 1/16 switching colors after about every 30-45 min. I tried multiple depths with the slip bobber from 3 ft - 10 ft, I fished for a good 4 hours and all I caught was 2 smaller largemouth bass I fished the cove on the east side of the lake on both sides river side and freeway side, I couldn't get any panfish to take my bait to save my life lol, weather was nice out there was a slight wind that put a small chop on the water so I mainly just casted and let my rig drift till it was close to shore and I would reel in and repeat. When the wind would calm down I would give my rod a small pop up to get my jig to bounce and let it be for a minute then follow up with a double pop and let sit and so on and so on. Anyways I am mainly posting to ask you fellow anglers for advice on technique or tackle I will post a picture of what tubes I was using. I did go to Myron lake about 12 and fished for another 2 hours and got 3 decent rainbow trout that I C&R but no pan fish, also fishing the east cove and east side of the lake. Any tips I would really appreciate, all in all it was an ok day being that I was catching something and did not totally get skunked, I think I might try a earthworm under my slip bobber at Rotary tomorrow and see what happens.
Thanks in advance and Happy Fishing!!!

It was a weird day today (check my report). Places I usually catch a bunch didn't work. I'd try what you tried again, and yeah, add the worms. Perch were the only thing biting for me, and in spots usually full of bluegill and crappie. The perch were all deep, but ready to spawn.

This is still april weather so most panfish are still in a pre spawn mode which can be a hit and miss action. It usually picks up for them in may and even though the weather seems springy the water is still cold and the systems that are coming through will put the fish in a funk . Right now unless you find the hots pot for the day you will have to work harder to get a few to bite. The next day the spot may be some where else. What your doing will put fish in the bucket most of the time.

Panfisher is right, and April is feast or famine. Pond 6 was best yesterday, but 1 had easier-to-catch fish. 1, 4, and 6 all have easy access, now that they extended the entry on 1.

I've had good luck in pond #4 and #6 along I82. #6 is the best if you have walking issues. I've caught good sized trout out of both using a small superduper and dry fly fishing. Early in the morning is best because they seem to bite more and there are less people around. (The lakes are popular.) A float tube or small boat would be best. It will give you access to the entire lake as well as get you away from other fishermen. I know there are other fish besides trout but I've never caught any.
