Yes there are "some" people that don't like the pike, but there are more of us out there that love to fish for them.

Anyway, those of us that enjoy fishing for pike in Washington would love to see you keep some of the 22 to 28 inchers and throw the rest back. That will let the average size go up and help keep the population in check. Long Lake is the ONLY pike fishery left in the state of washington that has a decent population anymore. Thaks to you know who.

If you enjoy catching Pike in Long lake then I would suggest releasing them since they dont reproduce very well in that body of water. I agree with A.J's Dad most of us like the Pike and keep the smaller ones and release the big ones. Great report and good fishing...

5/7/2013 12:25:00 PMyour already on the best spot go outside when the pads arive. Dont eat to many that lake is the sewer ya know! Also as others have stated one of the last places to catch pike no need to eat em all the government will kill em with there ideas that we are only here to protect the trout species. Nice fish good fishing to you and a money minnow works well for me, swimbait.

I didn't think it would make it if I released it. @ YJ Guide Service, I was debating on putting a post about them on here or not but ive seen other people talk about it so I figured I was safe. And thanks for the link to the forum as well! I definitely will keep the talk down as much as I can. Thanks for the comments, I appreciate the responses!

5/7/2013 9:56:00 PMSunset bay I have been trying to catch crappie for sturgeon bait and all I hook is pike. We seen one of those fish of a lifetime swiming around a mess of branches by the beaver hut. Any of the bays and esp the islands across from Tum Tum. As far as what to use? I think I would try a lrg jerk bait. Spinner baits will start working soon. This yr is the first yr I have caught yearlings so they must have found a good spawning area. P.S. we caught one while fishing for walleye this yr down river a ways. I AM NOT EXACTLY CRAZY ABOUT TALKING ABOUT THAT ONE. GOOD LUCK!

We alway release what we catch, so will put it back for you to pull out later if we catch one. :-)

5/10/2013 10:57:00 PMSwim baits work well. Spinners of course are great. They seem to like the color red! My nephew and I were in CDA a couple years ago and he was catching pike on a 1 inch trout blade! try anything and everything really
