Opening Day! Gorgeous weather! Almost says it all, doesn't it?
Mom lives on the lake, so always a good time to visit the old gal.
Wanted to do C & R so I used some of my smaller Steelhead jigs under a
float. What a gas! Ultra light tackle
& barbless jig. I was stunned at how well it worked. Switched to an areo-fly
rigged with slip sinker (like for power bait) with barbless #8 hook, & that
worked as well! This is super! Turned 3 fish in 1st 10 minutes. Kept 4 for
the day for dinner, turned A BUNCH before.
Looked like everyone was taking fish, trollers & bankies alike. Place
was bank to bank boats, but everyone seemed well behaved.
All in all, an excellent day on the water, & a good visit with the
momster.
PS: Anybody fish Star Lake (King County) lately? See the state didn't plant
any 'bows this year, but looks like they dumped a ****load of Kokanee fry
into it last year. Are they ripe? Did they survive? Any tackle tips for
these silvers?
Tight lines,
Murff
