Smallmouth Bass

Fished from 6:30 till only 10:30 because of prior appointment. But a great four hours. Caught 20 smallmouth. None that would go 3 lbs, but only a couple dinks. Most caught on a weightless Stick-0, with maybe four caught on a grub. Smallies are definitely moving shallow for spawn. Got some great video of a couple tiger muskie I'm going to post on my Facebook. Hope to get back out again tomorrow morning.

Always nice to get out on the water, even if its only for a few hours. Nice fish!

ive never fished lake tapps, mostly because my boat is so small and i dont want to get swamped by the ski boats. however it is a little too early for the wakeboarders and i am on vacation next week and looking to catch some bass. Which end of the lake is best to launch from (Alan Yorke or Pierce County park) and where is a good place to start from

Love the markings on that first fish!

I have been told that if the markings are bold, the fish has been shallow for some time, while the hazy-colored fish having just come from deeper water. Because I fish deep during the summer and fall months, I believe that fact to be true.

For b.gagne22 all I can tell you is where I'm fishing. And that is down by Dike 10 and 11 and both shores down toward China Bay. But, actually, with the spawn coming on, any shoreline can be gang-busters. Lake Tapps can be that good for smallmouth.

Right now, with no fast locomotion, all I can tell you is go to the left of North Park.

Man, I would love to get out there. The problem is is that there are too many lakes to fish and not enough time time with a full time job. Maybe someday I will have the time. Great job putting in the effort, I'm jealous:)

There are not many benefits to getting old, but one great one is retirement. As long as within my wife's guide lines, I can go fishing anytime I want. And, luckily, Lake Tapps is one of the closest lakes to me.

Usually if you get off the lake by 11 or so you don't have to put up with very many ski boats and if the weather is really cool they might not come out at all. Good luck fishing.
