Well I got up at 5am Friday morning to pre-fish Stevens for the derby, and just had "one of those days" forgetting my hat, dumping a full latte in the parking lot, as well as some other bummers led to a not very productive day... Got home, and organized, re-fueled, tied some new rigs, and got ready for the derby!

Well Saturday rolled around, and I had gotten no sleep. Looked at the clock, it was 2:30, might as well leave. We got to the lake and launched at 3am. floated around and got gear set up in the dark, and as soon as it was light out, started fishing. The phone rang not too long after, and it was Dad, ready to jump in the boat, so we ran back in, picked him up, and headed back out.

We ran 5 rods, four on downriggers and one surface rod. All had Dick Nite Dodgers and wedding rings, tipped with shoepeg corn. The morning bite was great, then it died off for about an hour, picked back up, and died off for another hour and a half. Seemed right around 10am there was a really good bite again, and then it was time for lunch! Rafted up with some friends, and enjoyed burgers and great company! Then it was back out to try and finish off our third limit before weigh in. We didn't quiet make it, but had two good limits to weigh in. Our big fish was around 14" and weighed 1.1lbs

It was a great day, with great friends, great fishing, and fun! We had a few doubles on, and a fish that went around my shifter cable! We ended up with 25 fish, with a ton more that we didn't get to land. It was great seeing and meeting so many WAlakers! And awesome seeing so many other boats with blue sharks and Hawaiian shirts in remembrance of "Ice Shark" from gamefishin (as i know many of you are members of both sites)

Highlight for me was getting my Dad out on the water with us, enjoying kokanee fishing, and catching lots of them! It was a blast watching Dad and Cody race for the rods, I had to be careful they didn't push me out of the boat! Loved it, and can't wait for next year!
