Well, on my way back from the Cowlitz I stopped by to fish at Log Boom for one of my favorite fish to catch in lakes. That's right, I like to fish for carp. The weather was nice and the fish have moved into the shallows, after a couple of weeks of nothing, they showed up in force. I caught six big ones in about an hour, and caught a few largemouth to boot. Very fun!

If you're thinking about fishing for steelhead this coming June, keep me in mind. We'll be fishing the Skykomish for kings this year, they have the opener set! I'm already booking trips for June, so if carp aren't your thing, the kings will be great. Contact me sooner, rather than later, because it's going to be a busy summer! See you out there.

Nope, just for the fun of it. Like bass fishing, only the fish are bigger! I bet the carp are on the move in all the lakes, haven't been down to Tapps lately, but May-June is their prespawn. IT's the best time to catch them, because they're grubbing up in the shallows before they lay their eggs. That's when they get all crazy and jump everywhere and don't bite.

What type and size hook do you use, do you leave the bale open so they won't feel resistance,....I have used size 8 worm hooks with bale open, just want to get some insight,...thanks
