Made our first trip of the season to Kapowsin. Trolled for trout as we made out way down to the very south end of the lake. Kids had a good time exploring a large duck blind down there. As for the fish... we caught about 12 trout on a variety of lures. Wedding ring, needle fish, small cranking minnows,and a pistol pete fly. Almost all the trout came around the deeper part of the lake. They were feisty, good size, and had pink meat.... Can't complain about that! BTW kids in a boat requires lots of patience.. as you can see they are totally engaged in the fishing ;) My son wanted to cook a few of the fish over an open fire, so we improvised. (He must have wished we were camping) He even seasoned the fish himself.. grinding up some fennel seeds and all.
