After getting skunked on my halibut attempt I wanted to at least put a fish in the boat before the weekend was over. Got onto Fish Lake at about 0730. Trolled around a small watermelon spotted dodger and pink hula thing – got three or four hits, but no hook-ups. Switched to a silver-UV 4” dodger and silver-red wedding ring and put three nice sized rainbows in the net in quick order. That was with some Fire Corn and a maggot on the hook , about 25 pulls out. Wanted to try my new bass rod, but was out of time and headed in. Water level on Fish is way up with the recent rains, past the ecology blocks = easy boat launching but minimum parking. I left with a collection of beer cans and foam bait cups left by some prior “sportsmen”. A real treat this morning was watching an Osprey hunting the lake. He would dive from a tall tree and hit the water with a splash like a kid doing a cannonball! He kept coming up empty however, which goes to show that even the pros can have a bad day.

How easy is this lake to navigate? I've looked at it a few times now and thought its pretty snaggy to put my inflatable into without putting a hole in it. Anything to watch for or is it easy enough you don't have to worry?

I travel in a kayak so very low draft, but this lake should be no trouble for an inflatable. There are dowed trees and brush at the edges, but this place is like a hole: leave the shore and it drops to about 20' pretty quick and stays that way from one side to the other. The only gradual slope is from the ramp at the south and again at the north. Pretty clean, some floating limbs now and then but that's it.

Cool!.... good to hear the water level is up. I tried to go a couple weeks ago but didn't want to deal with hauling everything over the blocks and into mud.
