My buddy and I decided to go to Alder today as we haven't been there in quite awhile. We got to the lake about 7:30 and went to the dam to start. It was slow to start but then we found the combo they wanted.

I tried everything from hootchies to apex and the one that they hit the most was an orange or red wedding ring tipped with pink gulp maggot and garlic scent. We were running downriggers about 20-25' but the most bites came from running dodger and ring on top about 60' behind the boat. We also tried pink/silver, green, and chartruese but the orange or red is what they wanted.

We were getting really soft bites all day and lost 8 to the 12 we caught. No great size to them, between 9-12" but they were aggressive on the hit. On the way back in we towed a boat that had conked out in the middle of the lake.

It turned out to be a pretty good day. Need to go back again.

One place I want to try. I bet those people in the other boat were grateful.

I was there on Saturday and my wife managed only one kokanee, but did get 4 rainbow and a perch. Still trying to get my first kokanee, but so far no luck. Does the fishing slow down for them as the weather gets hotter, or do they just move deeper and more active early or? Just like Toni said - nice to have people help each other out, you never know when you will need the favor returned!
