My friends Mauri, Wayne, and myself got a cabin at Sun Lakes S.P. We figured Sun Lakes S.P. would put us right in the middle of excellent eastern Washington fishing. We were not disappointed!

Opening day morning we were up at 0430 and heading to the launch at Deep Lake by 0530. There were only four other boats on the water when we arrived. The bank already had several fisherman. Skies were clear and it was very cold.

We started fishing as soon as we left the dock. We trolled Flatfish's without any weight. We started catching large triploids immediately. We were having double and triple hook up's. All the fish were over 15" in length. We C&R'ed a bunch of triploids thinking we did not want to limit out too fast. Boy, were we mistaken! About 10 AM, fishing came to a screeching halt. It was just as if someone had turned off "the bite" by throwing a switch. After that we only managed to take home three triploids. That was OK for us though because we knew we were going to get some more fishing time in later in the afternoon at Blue Lake.
