On YouTube there is a guy shown catching a carp, filleting it, and then deep frying the fillets in some kind of batter. According to them they tasted great. Sure looked good.,

I wouldn't recommend eating the carp in greenlake due to pollution

I shoot carp with the bow, and have tried many, many times to eat them. The only way I could do it is to take out some of the palest meat in the fillet (usually a very thin strip out of the thickest part of the fillet, and thrown away anything with any color to it (the reddish flesh has oil in it, and it is particularly foul tasting). However, at best they were mediocre, and very bony to boot. Additionally, as others have pointed out in the responses, carp tend to concentrate pollutants in their flesh - probably a better idea to fertilize your roses with them rather than try to consume them...

BTW, I understand how crazy fun they are on a rod and reel (they are powerful fighters, and go crazy when hooked), but I'm *very* glad you are removing them from the ecosystem. Carp are an extremely nasty invasive species, and very hard on the environment. I'd encourage you to continue killing any you catch - undoubtedly there are plenty left to catch.

But don't mean to sound overly negative - a 13 lb carp on rod and reel is about 20 minutes of sheer exhilaration, no? :)

Plus it looks like a female fish, which means you removed approximately 345,687,091,459,302,183 eggs from the environment. :)

Huli don't be so thick put the fish back and have some future fishing. why are you guys so concerned about the eco system when lmb and many other fish around this area are not native? you just believe what some tool has written about the damage that carp cause when 90% of you couldn't tell the difference between a grass carp or a common carp> get educated and then comment . grass carp will eat the weeds or algae blooms created for the most part by water fowl without these fish doing there job the lakes would be absolutely full of weeds and your toxic boats wouldn't get out of the dock! Huli the way you handled that fish was nothing short of disgusting you guys over fish and take out all the salmon and trout and then start your killing crusade against the carp ever thought that the lack of fish is caused by you? why is there blood all over the fish? you should learn how to handle a fish. you remind me of these lmb contest fisherman who have no idea how to play or handle a fish and just throw the fish on the boat! why dont you just throw a stick of dynamite in the lake and be done with it? if you really want to learn and become educated pm me or just listen to tluedke who has no idea about anything giving you advice .

yo yo yo slow the judgement over there chrismac, first of all that fish was gonna go back to the water but those couple fishing with me ask for it so ey its not my doing that it was on the bucket and looks like that i was just happy how big that first carp i caught that didn't even fit in their bucket, plus its gonna get cook and eaten anyway. i know i need to get more educated bout this fish but i never mishandle fish that i am not thinking of bringing home.i apologize for the photos but hey don't judge don't be hater.i love and enjoy fishing the right way.
