We fished the east end of the lake for bass from 9am to 1pm using fly rods and traditional gear. We only caught 1 LMB on a Football Head jig/Hula Grub set up, it was 3 pounds. In the afternoon we headed to the west end for trout fishing. We trolled files near the bottom between the island and the resort and got 4-5 good bites. Only landed one but it was a fat 5 pound, 22 inch Rainbow.

That has got to be a top 3 trout that I have seen in years. So pretty, and what a photo!

I think it should be sent in to a few local magazines for further publication. Pretty easy to do. Who knows they might put it in one. One put a pic of my son in their online publication. Even sent us a few lures for the pic.

Look like very healthy fish. Good job! Funny in a ah - ha way, remember all the Debbie Downers? When the DFW wanted to kill and restock the lake they were all over them. Where are they now? See ya on the water. Todd

Those are a couple of high quality photo's. Coloring on the trout must be altered by the bright light? I almost like the bass picture better. Not because it is a Bass. Coloration looks spot on. Nice couple of fish. That trout must have tugged hard!

Altered or not Those are very nice pictures and fish! As for the stocking of Sprauge, the WDFD 2013 stocking plan states that they put in well over 200,000 fingerling rainbows and back in 2011 over 35,000 catchables. I have been told .at one time, by fish and game that Sprauge is being managed as warm water species, spiney ray, lake but they are putting the trout in at this time until the spiney rays can repopulate the lake after the rehabilitation. Personally I think they are missing the boat because the trout grow really fast there. Sprauge could easily become a premier trout lake if they ever decide to manage it that way. Anyway I hope to see more pictures of this quality posted..

These pictures are real, no filters or alteration. It was the most beautiful trout I have ever seen.

muskyhunter, come join us in the forum and you will see the Debbie doubters are alive and well. Most of us do not dislike the trout, we just doubt that the rehab was done to support the trout. We also question the motives of the State. It should be noted that with no catchables since 2011, the size of the fish is dropping off. Two years ago 26 to 28 inch fish would have won the derby, but this year a ~6 pound won the derby and 2nd place was only ~4 pounds from what I hear. Yesterday those that claimed to be experts were catching 14 to 16". apl26, that is an awesome fish. I caught a 19" on Saturday in Sprague and it had those green colors as well. I expect it is taking on some of the color of the water. You should be proud of that picture - it rocks.

No doubts here, it's all about the pixels on the camera or phone. My younger son has a Samsung Galaxy S3 that out does my Canon IS by a long shot! Nice fish! Heard that they had stocked the lake with Bass, looks like I'll have to put Sprague on my Bass list!
