This was a little bit of a disappointing evening, and with a strange ending....
I headed out with a work buddy, with the intention to fish what is called, "Evans" lake. It is located 10 miles up a forest service road above the town of Skykomish. Cool alpine lake with some decent rainbows.
I was loaded to the gills with float tubes, double rods, and I had build my first monopod GoPro extension tool for underwater video, etc.
To make a long story short....We get to within 1/8th of a mile from Evans lake, and hit a completely snow covered forest service road! I couldn't freakin' believe it! I almost got high-centered in my Outback.
Then!! When I get home at nearly midnight... the first thing I see is a report from a guy at Evans lake. (It never gets reported on) However, the report was for a day last summer, lol. I thought this guy hiked through all the snow from today, lol.

Therefor this report is for Kellogg lake. We turned around down the mountain and float tubed Kellogg lake.
We didn't get on the water until about 7:15 pm. Beautiful night of low lying sun. We cruised through the lower lake without giving it much focus. It is generally shallow and weedy. I have caught small bass in there, but we were geared for trout fishing from fly rods, so we headed to the upper lake.
Crossed the beaver dam. It appeared to be not "Maintained" at this time, it was about a foot under water. After getting into the upper lake we saw a fair amount of fish gulping bugs. Not so much jumping, but slurping bugs. Was not able to hook up with any fish when sight casting to them, but my buddy caught 2 bluegill, and lost something unseen. I didn't hook anything until my final fly change up, and while heading out of the lake. Sorry, can't say what the fly was, olive green in color, not a bugger. I caught 1 dink lmb, and then hit 3 large mouth that were a whopping 3" each, lol. Fished dry flies on the surface, wooly buggers trolled, and a few others.
Saw two other car topper boats, one was hitting the shorelines hard. Beautiful lake. I would like to come back and go through the canals and crevices very slowly with some bass gear.
I did get to use the monopod I made today, for the GoPro. Did some underwater cruising/video. And whatda ya know? At one point there is a 8-10" large mouth that make a guest appearance on the vid. The video is shot upside down, that is why the lilly pads look strange. Pretty cool.
