Went to Hayden Lake this morning. I launched from the Sportsman’s Access at the North end and headed out in search of Kokanee. The water was warm, 68° surface temp at 6:00 AM. I started trolling between Chicken and English point. There weren’t many fish in this area today. There were a handful of boats around. I didn’t get a bite in an hour, and I didn’t see any fish landed by other boats - which were now mostly moving South, I moved south as well. I ended the morning with 5 in the boat and missed another 5. 4 good sized (13-15 inches) and one dink. A chartreuse double whammy wedding ring tipped with red scented corn behind a sling blade was the most productive. The last time I was out to Hayden, a hot pink Apex was the ticket, but not today. Most of the bites were between 30 and 40 FT down at about 1.3 MHP. By 11:00 it was hot and jet skis and skiers were buzzing me so I headed back. Great day on a beautiful lake.
