Wow, how does life get in the way of fishing?? It's been too long since I was at the lake. How great to be fishing again.

The three of us hit the lake at noon and wrapped about 5:30pm. Good weather today. About 65-70 degrees F. Water temps averaged 73.5-74.2 and the wind was very mild until about 4pm when it got windy. White caps and foam streaks on the water.

We thought maybe the LMB would be really active, but not so much. We saw a fair number of small ones, but the sunfish were the most active species.

I always target the bigger fish by fishing with larger lures and deeper. It usually means fewer fish, but that's my trade off. I only boated three. Two bass (the largest of the day) and one trout (also the largest.) He was about 13" but super thick, great shoulders and big girth. He was released to become the big boy one day. I did scare up a super 20+" trout that chased my lure but wouldn't bite. I felt like I was musky fishing while figure-eightng him at the boat. I lost probably another three fish.

K. and P. cheated as they usually do by using night crawlers....so their body counts were higher than mine. :)
K. boated two bass and 6 sunfish. P. boated 3 bass and 8 sunfish. No trouts for them.

Found a nice spot for barbecuing hamburgers on the boat while watching skinny dippers. Scenery to lunch by...

Upon heading back to the launch ramp a voice from the shore asked, "Are one of you CarpMouth?" I said, "Yes."
What a hoot. After trailering I went to their camp site and met Dave and Tony who visit Cascade several times a year and read these WashingtonLakes.com reports. Had a nice visit. Good luck guys...Fish On!
