First Report here on WL. Did some research to find a new spot to go fishing for the weekend with my dad. After researching many lakes and reading reports we decided to try Lake Omak for the first time. We fished Friday morning to Sunday Morning and caught nearly 70 cutthroat over the weekend.

Friday: Got up at probably 430 and on the lake at 5 fishing. Picked up about 10 cutthroats the first morning averaging 16-18" all came from 10-25ft on downriggers on size 5 and 7 rapalas. Came back to shore for a few hours until about 3. Went back out and decided to fish deeper (55ft in between 55-70ft water) as there were no fish shallow. Hit 1 spot and had 3 big fish on on 3 passes. Only landed 1 which was 6lbs, one shook off and one came off due to a splitring failure (Darn).

Saturday: hit the lake at 430 and only managed 6 fish on the west side of lake trolling 60ft hugging the bottom. Managed to land 2 5lbers and some other 18"ers. Lost about a 3lber at the boat due to holding my rod too high from a bad habit of bass fishing pulling them out of weeds. Lost another good fighting fish that i never saw but knew he was bigger than average. That afternoon we headed back to the east side where we caught/lost some bigfish. It wasn't 2 minutes after we set up that my dad gets his first fish on. As he's reeling it in my bottom rod goes off and its fish on. We're both fighting our fish when my 2nd rod goes off and then my dad's 2nd rod goes off but it gets off before he lands his first fish. Im still fighting my first fish and its a nice 4lb cutt. Land it take a pic then grabbed my 2nd rod and it feels like another good fish. Land that one which was a solid 3.

Sunday: Last morning and we woke up late.... On the lake at 5 and tried a new spot. managed to land about 8 with 3lbs being the biggest. As we were picking up to head back in im reeling in my rod and see theres a fish thats following it so i stop my lure and bam he hits right at the boat (very cool to watch). after 30 seconds of barrel rolling tryin to get off he pops off (oh well)
off the lake by 9.

All in all was a very successful and rewarding trip i was able to make by researching here on WL.com from fellow anglers and members. Most productive lures were size 5-8 rapalas and 2" needlefish in cop car color. I will try to upload some pictures as i cant because i'm at work

Nice job out there. Glad to see it's still fishing well with the warmer weather. I haven't been out there since mid June and it was still pretty warm there, water temps exceeding 72 degrees in some areas. I look forward to the pictures!
