Launched out of Coulon Park at 6:00 am. Use to fish Lake Washington almost every week a few years ago. I was sort of stunned by the non resident launch fee of $20.00. I have been fishing other lakes so I was not aware of the huge increase in fees. Anyway, there were two us fishing, and one of my favorite spots was along the drop off near Boeing and the runway. That is not even an option anymore as the milfoil has taken over everything in the general area. So we trolled over to the tip of Mercer, then over to Seward Park and then along the bridge. We fished for 6 hours, using every kind of bait and lure you can think of. Not one strike nor did we see anything on the scope. Water temp at the surface according to the scope was in the 70ยบ range. I only saw maybe one other boat fishing and now I know why. We had to clear our lines often even in deep water as the milfoil aways seemed to cling to the lures. It was a no win battle.
As previously mentioned I use to fish Lake Wash almost every week for 5 years and I do not ever recall coming home with zero fish. I was sadden to see a beautiful lake taken over by milfoil.
So anyway, on the way back to the dock we kept thinking of getting some hot chowder at Ivars. So we stopped there after pulling the boat up and paid $4:00 for a very small cup of warm (not hot) chowder, which I considered a semi-rip off.
I love to fish and I am out at least once per week at one of the nearby lakes or travel to another spot. Just being on the water is a real treat, but $20:00 to launch and $4:00 for a crummy cup of chowder seals my future for fishing at a lake taken over by high prices and milfoil.
