Decided to head out to one of my favorite lakes before Toni gets ALL the kokanee. Late start. Lines wet at 0700. There were only three boats on the water at any one time. Marked most fish between 30' and 40'. There were fish scattered over most of the lake with a few heavy congregations in 60 to 80 feet of water near the cedar house and along the west end in 50 to 65 feet of water. You didn't really have to look for them, just keep trolling. I can't remember a year on Clear Lake with more meter marks than I saw today.

These guys are really feisty!! Lost 5 at the net and more than 10 came unbuttoned at a distance. Two wrapped the line around the DR cable and escaped. Extra attention to drag and keeping the rod tip low improved the catch ratio and 5 fatties went on the ice. All were 11" to 12".

Most of the day was calm, not a cloud in the sky, and Mt. Rainier and the eagles were supervising the action. It doesn't get any better than that.

There is those spin-n-glow's again. I love them from everything. I have even rigged them up with a couple split shot and fished them in the lake like a spinner and caught fish.

Now those are some interesting lures!! Aren't they great even at only 12 inches. I bring them home and think they are longer but still 12 inches.

Toni, We think they must be bigger because they fight so hard. The stack beads above the hooks are glow and the hooks are close-tied #8s. Some today had both hooks inside the mouth. Saw this somewhere and rigged 4 different color combos at 10" to 12" from the dodger.

i remember a year, perhaps 8 years ago, clear had 14" fish. i think if they lesson the amount the plant, the fish will be larger. as far as loseing em. try some eagel claw kahle hooks in #6, or gamagatsu drop shot #4. also, try a dougle hook set up. this works great. one hook in the mouth, the other on the head of gills. no getting away from this rig. -rob

Lou, what is between the spin-n-glow and the top set of stack beads? The spin-n-glow still spins, having the weight of the stack beads pressing against it from above? Did the color or type of dodger, make a difference?

MotoBoat - I always test my new lures by trolling them along the side of the boat where I can see their action. Everything was good. The spin-n-glo was spinning fine. The top stack beads must be spinning along with the spin-n-glo. I used silver or gold stack beads on the top for attraction. I had cleaned and stored the dodgers before I took the picture, but I was using a pink splatter and a bahama mama for dodgers (two-pole license). Both setups (used same setups all morning) caught an equal number of fish.

Thanks Lou. Thought for a second that the top set of stack beads. May have been pegged to the line, leaving a small space between spin-n-glow and upper stack bead. Ifr the top stack bead is spinning, wonder if the bottom or back half is too?

That little winged bobber is one heck of a propeller to spin under those conditions.
