Another day on the water. Traffic was amazing this morning. Hardly anyone out. Excellent start to the day.

I wanted to fish the north end of the lake today. I wish there's a launch on the north end of the lake. I hate driving all the way down, only to boat all the way back up.

As I'm boating up, I change my mind and stop at about mid lake on the west side. Since it's still somewhat early, I tried the shallows for a bit. Today, I was rotating between cranks, dropshot, plastic worm and hula.

Took me about 20 mins to find my first fish. Shade side of L-dock with a dropshot in ~5-6' of water. Just a chunky 13" SMB. A couple docks north of that, I spotted a small ~10" SMB holding by the piling. Made a couple of casts towards it but it wasn't interested. Swam way underneath. So I skipped my senko underneath the dock. I notice my line isn't sinking.... I pull on the slack a little bit and I feel weight. Set the hook and BAM! Fish on. Sure doesn't feel like a 10" SMB. It's pulling a little drag and I'm having a hard time pulling it out from underneath the dock with my spinning setup. It's too hard for me to skip with a baitcaster :(.

Anyways, I manage to pull it out from underneath and see it's a pretty decent LMB, BONUS fish. About ~15" @ 2lb 3oz.

So 2 fish in ~30 mins of fishing. Excellent in my book. :o

And then no more for about 2hrs. Ugh. I did spot 2 small SMB in the ~10-12" range cruising or holding by the docks.

11AM, I decide to go across to the east side. Wanted to check out a point but I changed my mind halfway and headed towards a shoreline I've haven't really fished much.

Work a dock really quick just to see, nada. I move out into deeper water and end up catching a ~13" SMB in about 20' of water. I continue along this shoreline moving shallow to deep. Spotted lots of SMB fingerlings today.

I make a cast with the football jig in about +20' of water. A couple of hops and drag and I feel a take. Feels like a pretty decent fish. It's stayed down the entire time until it was under the boat. Only then did it surface to show itself. Decent SMB. ~15" @ 2lb 2oz.

I ended up with another dink ~10" SMB in about 15' of water.

I notice some interesting cover/structure on SI that I will have to go back and check out.

LOL. I wish I can get out there earlier. It does appear the bass are shallow early in the morning. By 9, they are deeper.

Man, you own that lake these days. I think I remember you moving out N. like a year ago, and now you are hammering that lake.

Lake WA is too big for my liking. All the smaller lakes don't allow gas motors around here. Sammamish it is. Not a bad "home" lake. I want to put on a clinic like rickydbasser does at Tapps. But I'm not sure if that's possible at Sammamish. Well, I imagine it is, but maybe not for me, LOL. I would think all the perch and other baitfish I see, there'll be a lot more bass. Or maybe that's the problem? Too much real bait to compete against. Or it's just user error. :o

Let AMX says, dropshot works pretty well. But I would probably choose tube. I've been using them more this year and really liking the results. 0-8' of water, I like using a 1/4oz jighead. 8+, I like 3/8oz.

Thanks. I am in Arizona now and Small mouth are more common than Trout, so time to learn something new.
