My father and I got to Mardon Resort fishing dock about 7am Saturday morning. We were catching plenty of perch, some keepers going about 9 to 10 inches and pretty meaty. The perch were biting pretty much anything we threw out there, there were a lot of small ones we had to sift through to get the keepers. We started fishing for crappie too, we caught plenty, but like the perch you have to sift through the small ones to get to the keepers. We ended up with 30 nice slabs ranging from 9 to 11.5 inches, the crappie love the shade so anywhere on the dock you can find some shade you will find the crappie. I had good luck fishing between the dock and the big party boats you can rent, also next to moored boats and along the edges of the dock. I was using a lime green crappie jig and was having great success, you just have to be patient with the little ones to catch the keepers. It was a good day fishing, we plan on coming back in September for more crappie. We also caught 2 catfish and an 8 inch blue gil, we also seen some small large and smallmouth caught.
