Once the art of dragging deep water is refined, then its just a matter of learning the different locations on the lake where the smallies hang out. Like I said before, the summer and fall are my favorite times to fish Tapps. The smallmouth school up at pretty predictable depths of around 20 to 25 feet, making them far easier to find and catch than when they are shallow and scattered in the spring. As you learned, sometimes they're a little shallower, sometimes deeper. Anyway, obviously your getting the hang of it.
