Clark Lake is one of the many little lakes around my house. It is however the smallest and the one that is has the least amount of fishing pressure which makes me think that it has promise. I had been going pretty consistently every weekend fishing from the dock in the evening during the summer but had absolutely no luck. i figured sense it was such a small lake that it was to warm. so i stopped going to that lake in particular. Soon after i purchased an inexpensive kayak for fishing. The kayak allows me to get out on the water and fish the banks that are farther away from the dock or the local access areas. If you are on a sub 1000 dollar budget and you want to fish Lakes, ponds, rivers and even go off shore i would highly recommend a fishing kayak. I can not tell you how much i love having one!

So any ways i went out there tonight and launched my yak to the right of the dock. I threw a 3/0 offset worm hook with a 5 inch strike king watermelon red flake senko wacky rigged right into the beginning edge of the lily pads and had a huge hit. i would have guessed that it must have been at least a pound but i missed him. I worked that side of the lake a little more and started to make my way over past the dock with the new found incentive that there was for a fact fish in this lake. I went to the opposite side of the dock and started by making a hail mary cast to the edge of the lily pads and let it sit for about 30 seconds. i started to work it back and had 3 good ticks and then nothing. i had 2 more bites after that but none of the fish took the hook or felt that big. i fished until dark and then loaded up the kayak, made the trek back to the truck and went home.

If you live close enough to the lake i would recommend giving it a chance, however if you do decide to make sure you don't go in the summer. It was windy cold and raining when i went and it was the best fishing that i have ever seen. I met a man there who said that he pulled a 2lb 7oz largemouth out of the lily pads over by the end of the lake where the creek is. I have also met people there that have pulled blue gill and crappie and would imagine that there is even some nice size bullhead cats in there.

If anyone knows a good bait that i should throw please comment it. My go to bait for around here is a wacky rigged senko. i have thrown top water at other lakes like Lake Desire and shady and have had luck. If by some chance the senko isn't working i will either throw a green and blue florescent spinner bait or a white Colorado spinner bait. none of those how ever have worked out that well at clark. The water seems to be extremely stained.

try a drop shot rig... with a roboworm in baby bass color... i run mine on 8lb test and 1/8oz weight... throw it out there and just let it sit... shake the line a little to get the bait a little motion...

N2h has a good idea, and small jigs with plastic attractors like mini worms, and just plain bobber with a hook or jig and a worm will catch most anything. Cast near structure with both. Most of the fish this year and last over 5lbs were taken on light lines and small lures, for me anyway. Good luck.

Hi, shady lake and lake desire are close lakes by my house and the thing that worked best for me is a jig and a frog id try it out on that lake
