Fished from pontoon off rocky point just east of dam. Lake trout starting to stage for spawn. Most fish were 50-75' deep belly to the bottom. Lake has not turned over yet but lake level has stabilized. Surface temp was 54 F with 40' at 50 F. Fish were mostly inactive and only hooked two (this fish took some coaxing with 3/4 oz rotator jig see pic.) and landed neither. Several boats out fishing/lake was flat calm all am.

Yes, I recall now i saw you in your pontoon just off of Speely beach park. I pulled up to your launch area to check the quality of the lake bed so not to get stuck.
I was wondering when I saw you in the pontoon, if you were fishing more for Kokanee, or if you had downriggers on that thing for Macks?
So, sounds like you were jigging for Macks off the bottom?

No downrigger, probably too heavy but people mount all kind of things on pontoons and trolling could wear you out. Just position over the top of a lake trout on the bottom and drop the jig in the transducer cone and watch the fishes reacttion to the jig. Usually, the fish rise to meet jig but that day the fish only moved a few feet down not up on the jig.
