I heard that Green Lake was recently planted with a few thousand Rainbow Trout on Oct. 2, and decided to give it a try this morning. It was a great day!
We walked to the lake arriving slightly before 7:00am and our lines were in the water by 7:15am. Fished straight from the shore near a fallen tree and some shrubbery.
Rigged a #8 bait holder hook to a 3-4 foot (4 lbs) leader connected to a small swivel. Between the main line and the swivel we had 1/2 oz egg weights and a bead to protect the swivel from damage. (sliding, slip weight)
Casted out about 25-30 yards, let it sink and immediately started feeling nibbles on the first cast. Hooked up within the first 5 mins out, before the sun even came up. Slowed down a little but we stayed until about 10:00am and ended the day with 2 each for a total of 4.
I hooked up on a pretty nice sized... 19.5" beauty and the others were about 12-15 inches. Overall great day on the water and an awesome way to start the morning before going to class.
Green Lake is a hot spot and nice, relaxing change of pace from coho and pinks that's close to home. I recommend you get out there today!
