Well ....Ron an I started off our morning at my favorite late fall Jerkbait spot. Week before I got a SM and a LM. Today...NADA. So we went to my late fall deep water dropoff and started cleaning house with Fisher Brothers Baits DS Minnows on various colors. All colors were' to working. I was trying my new secret lure AND IT KILLED!!!! O man, only big ones!!! We later lake-hopped, hitting the 18' to 30' range stumps and flats. We eventually worked our way to the main lake chanell where we caught some of our biggest fish. For Tapps, in winter, it was a great day. Caught about a dozen + SM ranging in the 1-3lb. mark. I think if we had more time to work the "end-of-the-day" pattern, bigger fish were waiting. Or, it could have been that the bigger ones were waiting till late morning. We were using Dobyns and Lamiglass Drop Shot Rods with Sunline Sniper FC 5lb and Seguar Invizix 6lb Floro. Small hooks, like Gam #2 split shot/drop shot hooks are a must. Nose hook the DS on the very end to maximize the action. Always adjust hook placement on the baits so they ride upright. I like to put them on so the "Belly' (rounded side) is upward. We used about 3/8 to 1/2oz weight with 2-4ft leaders. Sometimes they were only hitting with ALOT of movement, like when fishing over steep drops drawing the bait uphill.
