Headed over to greenlake to find out that all my usual spots were frozen over! Good thing I had an ice fishing jig with me, haha nope, barely 1 cm of ice and slowly melting. Anyway I found a nice little spot Ive been meaning to try on the northwest shore, since it was about the only place ice free at the time.
Since All of my roe was still in the freezer, I tied up some tiny spawn sacks of about 8-10 single eggs. At about 3 pm I got a bite on the spawn sack. This fish put up a pretty good fight for a trout, making me think it could the brown trout ive been looking for. But no, it was a rainbow of about 14 inches or so, with what looked like a scar from a bird. It was lip hooked and just before I was about to release it, it jumped and spit the hook...self release. No other action so I tried some shrimp, but still nada. Left at sundown
