We started trolling all types of Rapala's around 7:30 AM. It was calm and clear...Omenous of what was to come.
According the thermometer on my trucks rear view mirror, it was 22 deg when we got there. Right off the bat a husky jerk brought in a nice brown. After that it all kinda gets fuzzy. At several moments all three of us were hooked up on a nice cookie-cutter 14-16" brown or bow. We all were just cranking them in. As soon as we had our lure out, our rods would start doing the 'fish on' dance. The body count quickly rose to 10 in the communal cooler, so we started releasing all, to save room for 'the big one' (that we never did get). It was like that for over 2 hours...More fish than stars in the sky....wonderful! By this time we were over 3/4 of the way up the lake on the East side...and then the wind came in. White caps, then the snow. We were in a 14" skiff, so we headed for a small chunk of rocky beach to wait it out. But it just keep getting worse. So we decided to stick as close to the bank as we could, and slowly work our way back to the launch. And why not toss a lure out for good measure.
So here we are in white caps, snow, 20 something degrees out, and still killing them! Kinda scary if you know rock lake.
Sometime on the way back the wind died down, and it turned back into a nice relaxing fishing trip. Came home with 15 brown/bows all in the 14-16" range.
Not a bad day at all.

Hello DEADDOG500 - I too have fished Rock in some tough weather and the fishing can be great. I would suggest checking the weather forecast (St John/Sprague) VERY closely before going. Those squalls can blow up in a hurry. The good part is usually you can see them coming and make a run for the launch area although as far as you were up the lake that could take a while. Also caution is in order along the edges of Rock as there are pinnacles close to the surface depending on the lake level.

Thanks for the report, that's awesome! I have fished this lake several times from shore and from a boat with NO success. Will anyone share any secrets about fishing this Lake? I usually use power bait and worms and eggs. How deep do I need to go? I don't have a boat anymore, I could probably find one to use. Thanks for ant kind of help.
