don't the fishing regs say the walleye have to be at least 15 inches. Pretty sure about that. Congrats on your trip it sounds fun. Read your regs people. but still, yummy.

Ryno724, it's good that you are wanting to keep us on the straight and narrow. Here is what the current 2013/1014 regs say about Potholes reservoir. i copied it form the downloaded PDF.
POTHOLES RESERVOIR (Grant Co.) BLUEGILL Year-round No min. size. Up to 25 BLUEGILL and CRAPPIE combined.
CRAPPIE Year-round Min. size 9". Up to 25 BLUEGILL and CRAPPIE combined.
WALLEYE Year-round Min. size 12". Daily limit 8. Only 1 over 22" may be retained.
YELLOW PERCH Year-round No min. size. Daily limit 25.
Other Game Fish Year-round Statewide min. size/daily limit..

Come on people, if you're going to make a comment about someone's report that you "think" they have violated the regs, at least take a moment and actually look them up yourself. Potholes, Pg 92, walleye, minimum size 12", limit 8, only one over 22". You can download the WDFW regs to your desk top so you'll never again have to make "pretty sure" comments.

I checked out the statewide species rules and walleye actually need to be 16" not 15".
WALLEYE Min. size 16". Daily limit 5. Only 1 over 22" may be retained. WALLEYE may be caught, retained, and
released alive from a livewell until daily limit is in possession

I read my regs! The only thing I could say that some one might missunderstand is the 47 Perch if the read the regs right. There was 2 of us. My Nephew did not want any . Lucky me!

The Freshwater Eastside Special Rules supersede the Statewide general rules, Check Potholes, page 92. You want to always check those special rules pages. finally, the WDFW has special emergency regulations that they post online which supersede the printed/online regs pamphlet. So to be absolutely sure you should also check the WDFW site.

Great report soberg keep up the good work catching fish on potholes. Of all the people I know and fish with soberg knows the rules and follows them. I see it quiet a bit where someone says someone is not following the rules and the people themselves don't know the rules or don't look them up in the right spot in the book before they accuse the people of breaking them. Please before you say someone is breaking a rule make sure you have the facts and know the rules yourself...

Sorry my close guess was off my 1 inch Iwilfish not big enough deal to point out in my opinion. But guys when the regs say statewide rules they mean statewide rules, not eastside special rules mike. They need to be at least 16 inches and only one over 22 inches like iwilfish says. Either way wasn't trying to make too big of a deal about it. People make mistakes and was just trying to help soberg understand for his next trip to potholes and to congratulate him on a great perch fishing trip. Not trying to be a jerk just would hate to hear other Washingtonlakes.com fisherman get tickets and don't want to scare people from posting for fear of being ridiculed. Ryno I'm kind of confused on this I guess. When you look up potholes res on page 92 of the regs it says min size 12" daily limit 8 only 1 over 22" may be retained on the walleye- yellow perch no min daily limit 25. If that was the case where you say your suppose to go off the statewide rules and not the eastside special rules and you went fishing on Eloika lake for crappie lets say. Statewide rules says you can keep as many as you want and no min size, but the problem with that is there is a limit of 10 and a min size of 9" on them in that fishery just as the special rules say. I have fished that lake for over 25 years now and that has been in effect for quiet awhile now. That is also why there is a west side special rules as well to cover those lake. If you read at the bottom of page 17 of the fishing rules its says" Unless otherwise listed under the Special Rules sections, you must follow the statewide fresh water rules". So to me that says follow the special rules first, then if nothing under that then you follow state wide rules. Be careful if this is how you are interpreting the rules cause it seems to be incorrect. I just talked to WDFW and they reaffirmed what I just said, the special rules are the ones you go off first, then if nothing special for that body of water its the statewide species rules. I to would hate to see anyone from WA Lakes get in trouble also. Good fishing everyone
