A little tougher day Thursday, we didn't get on the water until 1:30(we had gone to Liberty lake but the launch was to shallow to get our boat in) and the fish didn't seem as aggressive as they had the past couple of days. We trolled the same area that had treated us so good in the past. We were down 15-16 ft in 19-20 ft of water and trolling at 1.7 mph. We were marking a lot of fish, they just wouldn't bite. It took 3 hours of switching out colors and bait combinations when I noticed a nice red arch on the Garmin, A couple seconds later it was fish on for my wife(EVIE). Hard fighting fish and she did a great job of getting in the boat, nice 21 1/2 inch 3 pd 13 oz rainbow, the largest fish of the week for us. I switched over to her combo(hand tied hoochie UV white with Mikes corn eggs on the front hook and a piece of worm on the back hook). In the next hour and a half I caught a 15"er, lost 5 during the fight and had several more hit it but not hard enough to release the down rigger clip. Evie also lost 3 or 4 and had several hits. These fish seem to be hugging the bottom in the deepest water they can find. This weekend Monica will have the resort on the east end of the lake open so we can use her launch and dock, I hate launching in rocks and I'm getting to old to climb over the bow(even with a steep stool) we will be on the water Sat. and Sun. give us a wave.

Strange line at about 17 feet that I see on your unit. Is that a glitch on your sonar or is that some kind of early season thermocline?

PS, nice shot of that arch!

Wow! You and your wife have had some awesome fishing. If it wasn't so far to come I would be over there joining you. Maybe in October. I have been fishing close to home this winter at Coldwater lake. I've had a ball up there. This week we were there on Tuesday under blue-bird skys and very little wind. Had 33 hits and 17 to the boat. But they were smaller rainbows 13-16 inches. We release everything up there. I'm considering heading east the last week or two in April at Lake Chelan for kokes. I have been having a ball fishing for them this last year at Merwin. They sure are great fighters and a treat to eat. Also the springers are in the Columbia now so I will have to see if there are any willing to bite my presentations as soon as the river clears up a bit.

That line is the down rigger ball on the transducer side of the boat. I had the sonar gain about 92 percent, I can turn the gain down in these shallow waters and get rid of that line but it is kind of neat to watch every detail

Thanks for the reports, now that I know the lake has open water I'll be out there Sat afternoon. Did you troll on the East end at all? Sounds like you are mainly on the west end.

Ya, it dawned on me as soon as I shut the computer down, but it was toooooo late by then. I guess I need to use my DR more often. LOL
