Woke up this morning and it wasn't raining, so we decided to head to the lake. I was pretty excited to try out AnglinArcher's advice about the larger swimbaits and see if I couldn't hook into a nice monster brown... Unfortunately, our boat had a helluva time out on that water. We trolled along the north shore for about an hour with waves constantly swamping our little jon boat and our Minn Kota 30 barely keeping us moving against the wind. There were only about 2 other souls brave enough (or stupid enough) to be out on the water with us, but we had to call it quits before we drowned... No nibbles at all in the 1:30 or so we were on the water.

We'll be heading over to the west side this weekend- hoping to hook up with a good lake and catch some fish!

OUCH! I love a little wind, but I think you might have gone overboard, almost literally. Careful out there. LOL

I find that the big browns hang just over the old weed beds, either on the inside edge or the outside edge. I usually hit them on Liberty by target casting after locating the residual and developing weed lines with my graph. If I was going to troll, something I personally hate to do, I would use planer boards to keep away from the fish.

Good luck out there guys
