4/8/2014 6:18:00 PMWhen I fish that lake this time of year, I'll tie on a 5-bead swivel with a 4 foot fluorocarbon leader, #8 gami single-egg hook and 2 green Gulp! eggs. Figure out which way the drift is going and then motor up to the upwind end of the lake, toss the rig out, and free-drift downwind. A piece of nightcrawler is often just as effective.

4/8/2014 8:21:00 PMMy brother tried some nightcrawlers but the fish weren't interested. Several other boats were out trolling and a couple bottom fishing. We didn't see anyone catch anything trolling, but we weren't paying that much attention. Might give your technique a try next time out. Thanks for the tip!

4/8/2014 8:35:00 PMWhen I troll that lake, I use the same 5-bead swivel and same leader with a #6 baitholder hook. I'll thread a 2 inch piece of nightcrawler so it won't spin and troll that as slow as I can, flat-lining. That's pretty effective on Spencer. Sometimes all of the flash puts the fish off on that lake.
