Stayed at Lone Lake Cottages Bed and Breakfast for two nights. Found it on the Internet. Cool place. We stayed in this stern-wheel houseboat that once delivered mail along either the Skagit(?) or Snohomish River. Very cozy digs! Not sure how they delivered it to Lone Lake, though. Anyway, fished off of the houseboat and boat on Wednesday. No luck. Took out a boat and fished the north and west sides on Thursday for a couple of hours to no avail. Before sunset, returned to the dock and worked a brown leech fly pattern in the shallows, in and around weed beds. Managed to tempt multiple vicious strikes and two hook ups on dark and deeply colored rainbows. Very tough fighters! Lost the fish because I couldn't bring them over to the boat dock where there wasn't a railing. Fished briefly on Friday for half an hour, but lost two flies. Called it and returned home with my honey. Though fishing was very slow, the two hook ups made the experience enjoyable.
