After the Camelot yard sale in Spokane, we hit Deer Lake around 1 pm. Tried trolling some Wedding Rings for about 20 minutes and then decided to throw spinners at the bank. The weather was constantly changing. It would be bright and sunny one second then the wind would pick up and the hail would start coming down then turn to rain. Repeat that about 4 times. During the first hail storm I remembered a story I had read a long time ago and told my friend to get ready he's going to catch a big one. Three casts later and it was fish on. After a brief but interesting fight (the bigger one's liked to roll for some reason) we had him in the boat. A quick weigh in at 4 1/2 lbs. and a picture and back in the water he went. We caught a couple more of the bigger one's but that was definitely the biggest. Finished with 12 all released.

Whoa, nice fish! I noticed that the base of the tail is worn (from spawning in the gravel)?

That's actually my buddy Steve in the picture. I'm not that ugly : ) I saw his tail too and thought maybe he was a brood stock, but the ones we usually catch are a lot darker. Maybe he's just an old scrapper.
