Got out to Chelan for the get together. Saturday was defined by the wind with a pretty constant west wind at 10-15 mph with gusts 20 mph and up. Everyone who was there has tales of braving the elements. Woke up in Manson at 3:30, and it seemed pretty calm. Was the fourth boat out of Mill Bay around 4:15 and heading out of the bay had a smooth ride but when I got near the breaks off of Wapato Point the rollers picked up and we started catching some air. Decided to cut the motor and troll down to Rocky Point. Dropped lines while bobbing up and down and had fish on between 4:30 and 4:45. Reminded me of fishing the Sound! Fish came at 15 and 30'. Went 3/3 and then it died for the rest of the day. Heard others say it was hot early.

Marked three small schools out in open water between Rocky Point and the blue roofs but no takers. It was calm for a bit, but then some gusts started picking up, some chop and white caps, then rollers, then rollers mixed with chop and white caps when I headed off at 10. It was nasty! I was trying to troll with the wind but it was still pushing me sideways and my lines were running perpendicular to the boat... not good! Decided to give it a good shot, but at a point its just not worth it.

The run from the blue roofed condos took time and too much gas with lots of rough water and some waves that seemed around 5 feet. Definitely pushed the boat to the limit and would advise to really watch the weather on Chelan as we got off just in time and the nasty picked up quick. The boat also lived up to its nickname "soakercraft," as it was one wet ride. Fish seemed smaller this go round, with ours being two 13" and one 15". Met a few folks at the get together, heard from some cool sponsors (definitely use a lot of Mack's stuff and aprreciated the gifts along with the other sponsor stuff), and had great food by rseas and participants making the trip worth it. Thanks to all and tight lines!

It was indeed a great time. No extra charge for the soaking boat ride! Alan

Those ducks were sure friendly and definitely made their rounds! Saw them approach a guide boat Saturday as we were trolling past and they visited us at the Mill Bay ramp as we were taking out on Sunday. Thanks for the report!
