After a decent morning at Rattlesnake lake, boss and dropped the tubes into Pine lake looking for some bass.
I have only fished this lake a couple times 5-7 years ago. In a word... the fishing was terrible today for us.
I through spinner baits, crankbaits, wacky rigged senkos, etc. targeted dock edges, lilly pad beds, any structure we could find.
What really amazed me about this lake is that there are so many areas where the bottom is free of weeds, and either is gravel or has sunken logs, etc. Lots of great bass habitat it seemed. I tossed a lot into the shallows just hoping to find fish up in the shallow water, structure or not. Not a single hit for me.
My partner through bass flies via his 5wt. He did have a couple of hits, but no commitments from fish.
If I lived closer I'd put a lot more time on this lake. I fished it once during the spawn with Fishingmachine years ago. it was amazing at that time.

Thanks for the report on Pine. I fished it a lot in the 1980s and caught lots of largemouth up to 3 pounds, 6 ounces and even caught a few dink smallmouth also back in the 1980s. Was really interested how the smallmouth were doing? I also caught some smallmouth at nearby Beaver Lake but haven't seen any recent reports of smallmouth in that lake. Enjoy these sunny days!

Haven't fished Pine since Memorial Day '88. Got a 4 lb Largie on a 3 hook slim minnow a couple/few docks to the right of the launch. To the right as seen from the boat on the water. . Yes back then there was a launch and gas motors could be used. Also back in the canal further to the right. And some smaller fish off to the left from the launch amongst the wood/branches. Give them a week with this weather and they'll be up and runnin.
